Description
Knitting pattern // OLE Hat (English and German)
The hat is worked bottom up, in rounds, using a short circular needle. Only the cast-on and the decreases are worked on dpns. The brim is worked in a half fisherman's rib with purl sts, the body of the hat is then worked “mirror-inverted” so to speak, in half fisherman's rib with knit sts. This creates the same pattern on the front when the brim is folded over. The decreases for the crown of the hat are worked as right- and left leaning double decreases. It is recommended to use a yarn that is highly twisted and elastic, otherwise the half fisherman's rib design tends to “bag and sag”. Pure cotton or alpaca are not well suited.
Techniques used: Italian CO, Half Fisherman’s Rib stitch pattern with yarn overs, left and right leaning double decreases. All techniques used are explained in the instructions.
